1. Your Privacy
We Unearthed is built on the premise that what you write here is yours. This policy says what is collected, where it goes, and what you can do about it.
2. What Is Collected
Account details: email address, username, and your settings. Your entries: what you write, speak, and capture, and the reflections and acts made from them. Cycle and faith settings, if you choose them. Usage events: which screens you open and which features you use, never the content of an entry. Alongside them we keep your app version, platform, language, country and timezone, and whether reflections are on.
3. How Entries Are Protected
iPhone
Entries are encrypted on our servers with per-field encryption before they are written to the database. Photos are stored in a private bucket. On your phone they sit in the app’s private storage, and you can add Face ID or a passcode under Lock the app. We do not read your entries. If one is ever opened by a person, it is because you asked for help that needs it, or because the law requires it. Access through our tools is logged with the reason, and you can see it in Settings under Data access log.

4. How Reflections Are Made
When you ask for a reflection, your entry is sent to the AI provider named below to write it. The reflection is stored encrypted with your entry.
5. Who We Work With
- Supabase: database and file storage for your account, your encrypted entries, and your photos.
- Railway: runs the server; your data passes through it while a request is handled and is not stored there.
- Anthropic: receives your entry at the moment a reflection is written. A photo you add to an entry is sent with it.
- OpenAI: your voice recordings, to turn them into text; the text of an entry, to find wisdom and earlier entries that relate to it; the themes and short summaries the app keeps from your entries. If Anthropic is unavailable, OpenAI does its work instead and receives what Anthropic would have, including a photo you added.
- Google: the text of a reflection or a piece of wisdom when you tap Listen, to read it aloud.
- Resend: your email address and the emails sent to you.
- Sentry: error reports with personal details removed.
- RevenueCat: subscription status under your account id; never your writing.
- Expo: your device’s push token and reminder text, to deliver notifications; and the app’s check for an update when it opens, which carries no account details.
- PostHog: usage events as described above.
- Find A Helpline: when you open the helpline directory, it loads from their site, which sees your phone’s network address.
6. What Providers Keep
Each provider is bound by its published terms; the links below are current as of this policy’s date. Neither Anthropic nor OpenAI trains on your words.
7. Retention
Entries stay until you delete them. Account data is kept while your account is active. Deleting your account removes your entries, photos, and account data; photos are removed at once and database backups expire within 14 days.
8. Your Choices
Export your data at any time. Clear your data and keep your account. Delete your account and all data. Turn usage sharing off under Share usage patterns. Turn cycle awareness or personalized reflections off, and change your faith settings, in Settings.
9. Children
We Unearthed is for adults 18 and over and does not knowingly collect data from anyone younger.
10. Changes
When this policy changes, the date at the top changes. For a significant change, we will email you.
